About Us

To explain a little about us, I will start with a little about me and my mission in developing this site.

The purpose is to grow interest in the game of tennis by reaching more individuals who have not had the opportunity to play and to have the players who already play a place by which they can find all their tennis resources.

My name is Tony and I built this site after playing tennis for almost forty years and coaching for nearly that long.

I actually started playing tennis pretty late as a young adult and was introduced by Dr. Ken Sims who I would consider my first coach. He has often said to me that he never wanted to coach anyone because it was just too much pressure.

width=Well, I don't know maybe it's just a part of my nature to give back or something, but I started playing this game and all the other sports that I had played and competed in just didn't mean that much to me anymore.

That's why I decide to become a coach, so that maybe I could reach individuals and help them to develop their skills.

Even though I never played on the ATP professionally, I

played and won many local tournaments and competed in Adult leagues where I made some life long friends.

As far as the coaching aspect, I tried to coach my two older children but they had no interest in tennis, however, my younger daughter took to the sport and liked it very much. Notice how I said "liked it", she didn't love it.

I believe that for someone to succeed they have to see themselves doing well no matter what the cost and how long it takes. She just did not have that burning desire to play. And even though she was the best player on her high school team, she was never able to take her game to the next level.

But that's okay I still love her and the other two children just the same.

I do have several of my former and current students that are ranked in the State of Florida in the top 10 for their age division.

You see, tennis is not for everyone. It's for that select few that play it and find that certain something that they couldn't get from any other sport. You have to as I alluded to earlier you have to have a passion for the game.

However, passion alone these days is not enough for an individual to become successful. You have to have help. Help from a community.

Maybe that's what brought you to this about us page to actually find out more about us and how we can help you get to the next level in tennis.

And make no mistake about it, tennis is filled with levels. Each level that you reach it takes a little more effort and commitment tin order to reach the next one.

Whether that community is a group of coaches, your family or someone who believes in you and what your desires are.

More importantly though, I believe that if someone is going to be successful in this game (make it to the professional ranks) God has to be on their side, not luck. I don't believe in luck, just hard work and the desire and God will do the rest.

Well, what about those individuals that make it but don't really make it to the top? I can only answer that question like this. I didn't make it to the top, but the journey was all worth it.

It's all about the journey for me as I look back now. Tennis gave me a form of exercise that was a lot less dangerous than football (anyone know any 40 to 50 year-old football players?) less boring than baseball and more fun than basketball.

I finally did get a permanent coach after playing several years and my game elevated to the point where I was winning matches against players who had been playing for many more years than I had been playing.

I learned a lot from that coach and it also inspired me to become a Head Professional tennis instructor, which is my current profession. You can learn more about us and what I do where I teach and the programs that we offer.

I'm not sure how you heard about us but, if you search this site I believe that it will be an enriching experience in learning the game of tennis.

As my wife and I teach tennis to the individuals where we work, we have learned that it is not about us but it's about us giving to all the individuals and families that we meet along the way to learning this great game.

Even though I enjoy what I am doing and I plan to continue teaching as long as I am able, my certification instructor asked me something about ten years ago. He asked me "how long do you think that you can continue to teach for eight hours a day, six days a week?"

I really did not have an answer to that question then, but now I do understand why he asked it. Now matter how much passion that I have there is something called "burnout" and it can happen to anyone in any profession or career.

This is another reason that I decided to build this site. It gives me a way to stay in contact with the sport while still growing the game that I love so much.

This is how I found SBI or Site Builders Incorporated. They help me build this site. Maybe you're not quite ready to retire yet well, neither am I but, perhaps an easy transition into retirement or a plan B is what you need.

Then maybe, just maybe, you can check out what can happen when you turn your passion into your very own web site.

Thanks for reading this brief history about us and what we do for the game of tennis.

What Students and Parents and Associates Have to Say about us:

As my tennis coach, I have observed his interactions with several youth and have always found him to be organized, efficient and extremely competent. Tony carries these same skills both on and off the court and is able to command support from people of all ages.

Tony demonstrates extreme patience in repeatedly showing his students how to master the game of tennis.

D.W. Plantation, Florida

I was so impressed with Tony that I enrolled my two boys in his academy at Wolk Park in Lauderhill. I was even more impressed with Tony the coach. I watched him with my two kids and the many other kids at his academy. He treated each one as if he or she was the only one, ensuring that each one felt special. It was not hard to notice that his love for the game of tennis extended to the love of teaching the game. His passion, dedication, knowledge, and character are what makes Tony a great coach, a role model, and an inspiration to the kids.

I found his demonstration and instruction of the forehand and backhand ground strokes admirable. I became so impressed that I took several forehand and backhand lessons from him. He explained proper technique and the fundamentals for each stroke in such a logical and sensible manner that I was able to understand and easily pass on the information to my students.

Coach Tony’s coaching skills are great. He has coached all four of my children, one of whom is away in college now. He continues to coach my three daughters. I have witnessed firsthand the tremendous improvements in their games. They are now playing successfully for their high school teams.

There is no better representative of the love of the sport of Tennis and its instruction to children, many whom would not readily be exposed to the sport than Coach Tony.

Since I met Coach Tony I have found him to have a pleasant personality, reliable, dedicated and very patient, with an unusual ability for dealing with people of all ages.
