Choosing
a
junior
tennis
racquet
for a
child
can be
difficult.
Especially
when
there
are so
many to
choose
from.
Keep in
mind
however,
that
kids are
not
small
adults.
They
will
need a
junior
tennis racquet
that is
the
right
weight
and
length
for
them.
As they
grow or
if you
start
them out little
older,
say
seven or
eight,
you can
purchase
one that
is a
little
longer.
I have
seen
times
when
kids are
forced
to play
with an
adult
racquet
which
often
times
can lead
to
injury
to their
wrist,
resulting
in frustration
for both
parent
and
child.

Couple
that
with
them
trying
to learn
a new
skill
and it
can be a
recipe
for
disaster
in
learning
the game
of
tennis.
What I
recommend
for
parents
when
starting
their
child
out in
tennis
is to
get a
racquet that
is not
too
expensive.
Many
parents
go out
and get
the most
expensive
racquet
only to
find
that
they
have to
replace
it
within
three to
six
months
due to
being
damaged.
Also,
your
child
may not
really
like
tennis
as much
as you
thought
or hoped
they
would.
Remember,
most
retailers
will not
accept
returns
on used
racquets!
Junior
tennis
racquets
probably
take
more
abuse
than the
average
adult
racquet
due to
kids
trying
to hit
balls
and
missing
quite
often.
Also,
they
tend to
hit them
on the
ground
and
otherwise
damage
them
just
because
they do
not know
their
value
yet.
Below
are some
recommended racquets
that are
on the
market
today.
Please
be aware
that
they
do come
in a
variety
of sizes
based on
the size
and
strength
of the
child.
